Manchmal vermischen sich persönliche Vorlieben mit autobiographischen Daten. Beispielsweise habe ich gerade einen Film geschaut, den ich sehr ´sophisticated´ finde: "Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow" (NYT). Der Plot ist fast vernachlässigbar, aber die Umsetzung finde ich phantastisch. Sie ist von der Formensprache und Ästhetik eine Melange aus Fritz Langs Metropolis, Indiana Jones, Marvel Comics, Art Deco und dem Geist der Weltausstellung 1939; plus der Hauptdarsteller ist Jude Law!
Die autobiographische Note?:
Polly Perkins : ´Joe, just tell me the truth. I don't care either way, I swear. I just want to know. The girl in Nanjing... it was Franky Cook, wasn't it?´
Joe 'Sky Captain' Sullivan : ´Polly...!´
